Hunger
Zionsville Area Food Pantry – A cooperative social ministry of the Lutheran, Methodist, UCC, Mennonite, and EC congregations in the Zionsville and Upper Milford communities. Feeding families in need with the gifts from God from the people of God. Financial and non-perishable food donations can be brought to UMMC. No dented cans, opened containers, or past-due expiration dates will be accepted. Donate foods your family would eat. Volunteers welcome. Website

MCC Meat Canner – Every year MCC’s Mobile Meat Canner travels across the United States and Canada meeting volunteers who prepare cans of turkey, beef, chicken and pork to be sent around the world. Over 30,000 people a year volunteer to fill, weigh, wash and label every can. Volunteers and donations welcome. Local canning event in Souderton, PA, at the Harleysville MRC. Website

Second Harvest Food Bank – Our mission is to obtain food and distribute it to people in need through area nonprofits and to provide resources for education and advocacy to end hunger. We believe that nobody should go without food. Second Harvest serves more than 60,000 people each month in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties. Family-to-Family “Give Where You Live” – Group four or more families to help struggling families in your own community by providing them with a monthly box of basic grocery staples. Group is attached to a local food pantry for distribution. Suggested shopping list

Prison Ministry
THE PROGRAM for Women and Families-Allentown provides women offenders, their children and at-risk youth with opportunities to build healthy and productive lives. Volunteers and donations welcome. Website

Stephen’s Place provides services for 10 to 12 residents annually, believing that men returning to the community after incarceration should have a safe, spiritual environment in order to address early recovery from substance abuse as well as develop personal life skills. Stephen’s Place provides a Half-Way House to help these men transition back into the community as productive citizens. Volunteers and donations welcome. Website

The Lazarus House program offers shared housing for adults re-entering the community following incarceration. The Lazarus House has proved successful in providing affordable housing, developing supportive relationships, and reducing the number of individuals returning to prison. Donations welcome. Website

YokeFellowship Prison Ministry – Lehigh Valley helps at-risk youth, inmates and ex-offenders yoke themselves to Christ for salvation and changed lives through in-prison and out-of-prison meetings. Volunteer training is offered periodically. Volunteers and donations welcome. Website

Liberty Ministries was established in 1980 to serve the inmate populations of numerous state and county correctional facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Over 160 volunteers visit men and women housed in correctional facilities on a monthly bases teaching, training, mentoring, and preparing men and women for life outside of prison. Volunteer Service
Mennonite Disaster Service – A volunteer network of Anabaptist churches responding in Christian love to those affected by disasters in the United States. Spring/Summer Projects scheduling soon (April-August). RV Projects schedule in fall and winter. MCC Sharing With Appalachian People (SWAP) is a service and learning program which provides week-long opportunities for school, university, church, other groups, families, and individuals repairing homes for low-income families and learning to know people in the Appalachian region. Website

Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley provides hardworking families with simple, decent, affordable housing. Volunteer on build sites in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton; in the ReStore in Whitehall; or in the office. 610-776-7737 || Website

Turning Point of Lehigh Valley – A safe place where victims of abuse and their children can find refuge. Indirect service opportunities may include: health/community fairs, organizing/picking up donations, bundling literature, data entry, creative writing, special event planning, landscaping, gardening, and building repairs. Direct service may include: answering the helpline, court accompaniment, co-facilitating an empowerment group, office support in the Safe House, structured activities for children in the Safe House.
